ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I am glad to have the opportunity to thank the thirty faculty members who participated in this study. Thank you for the time, responses, and encouragement you gave. Additionally, I would like to thank the faculty who helped lead me to this dissertation topic and who participated in the pilot studies.  These faculty were participants of the FRCÕs summer workshop in the summers of 2002 and 2003.   A big thanks also goes to the FRC staff for understanding and support over the years.

I would also like to thank my committee for their time, expertise, effort, and support.  In addition to my committee, thanks to Julia Hartman for help with the quantitative statistics. A special thanks: to my friends who have gone before me in this process, supported me and had complete confidence in my ability to finish—Margit, Michele, Grinell, and Mark;  to Clarisse for your friendship, support and emails; to Pam, you know why; and lastly, thanks to Gamin, who was with me most of the way.

My principal gratitude goes out to Vivian and Ken Wright.  Thank you so much for all you have done for me over the years.  Thank you for your friendship, your time, your support, your never-ending optimism, and thank you for constant faith in me.
