Learners
Before creating instructional materials, at least three categories of learner differences should
be analyzed or accounted for:
- cognitive characteristics (aptitude, language levels, reading levels, preferred
learning styles, prerequisite knowledge, technological knowledge)
- psychosocial characteristics (motivations, interests, attitudes toward course, epistemic beliefs,
socioeconomics)
- physiological characteristics (age, racial/ethnic background, health, general abilities or
disabilities)
